Over-Temperature trips
Electronic trips are a re-settable alternative to one-shot
(wire-melt) heat fuses. They are more accurate and not subject to premature
tripping due to ageing. They require a thermocouple. They can share the
thermocouple used by the temperature controller or use a duplex thermocouple.
For highest security an independent thermocouple should be used. Also
ideally, the trip should be used
to control a secondary (safety) contactor so that they can guard against failure
(contacts welding) of the primary kiln contactor.
